Fermented Rhubarb recipe

🌱Want to know how to ferment your rhubarb? Then read on….

🌱It’s that time of year when many of us start to see the fruits of our labour in the garden and have veg to spare.

🌱Fermenting them not only prolongs the life, often in to the winter and beyond, but provides a host of health benefits too!

One of my favourite ferments is fermented Rhubarb!

It keeps a long time in the fridge and is perfect to top a special pie or just to eat with yogurt. ✨

Fermented Rhubarb recipe.

✨You will need;
A chopping board
Large knife
Kilner type clip top jar
Good salt
Water
Rhubarb
Vanilla bean or cinnamon stick

Here’s what to do;

Clean the rhubarb and remove stringy bits.
Chop into small pieces.
Dissolve 1 tbsp good salt into 1 ltr of water.
Put the vanilla in the bottom of your fermenting jar.
Put the Rhubarb on top
Fill the jar with your salty water
and weigh down with a fermenting weight.

Leave for 5-7 days.

Then place in the fridge, you can keep it in the fridge for months, as long as it doesn’t turn mouldy it’s good to eat ✨

What a fabulous recipe, never thought of fermenting my rhubarn so that I can enjoy it much longer than its traditional season! Definitely going to try this one :)
